At the Bookends agency blog, literary agent Jessica Faust is talking about her favorite books from her childhood/teen years.
I have so many favorites from those years. The Nancy Drew mysteries. Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy and Tacy stories. Madeline L’Engle (A WRINKLE IN TIME) and Wilson Rawls (WHERE THE RED FERN GROWS).
One author I remember really loving was Lois Duncan. My favorite books by Ms. Duncan were SUMMER OF FEAR and DOWN A DARK HALL. I still have the books on my shelf, here in my office. They were so spooky and different from anything else I’d ever read! On a whim, I googled Lois Duncan, and found her web page.
Last week I took my kids to see WALL-E and there was a preview for a new kids movie called HOTEL FOR DOGS. Hey, surprise! She wrote the book that movie is based on.
Hmmmm, well. It’s thundering and lightning here, so I’m going to sign off and head downstairs with my Alphasmart to write some pages! I hope everyone’s having a great summer.

She was my absolute favorite author when I was a teenager, too! I guess it shows a bit in what we both write. Loved the link to her website. Thank you!

That is so neat that you loved Lois Duncan too! I still remember going to the Book Fair in middle school and picking up my copy of DOWN A DARK HALL. I couldn’t wait to get home and read it.
