The New Guy

The New Guy

So this is Tango. A few weeks ago, I went to Petsmart to see if they had some copies of the July CAT FANCY in which I and Monstrous Orange Cat, Oscar, were featured. They didn’t have the magazines on the shelf yet. I made the mistake of taking my husband and kids, and in a weak moment, we brought Tango home instead! He is an animal shelter kitty.

This after my husband and I said, “No more pets!” We have four now. Goodbye furniture! Goodbye carpet!

He’s a sweetie though, and has forced his little cheerful, energetic self on the other animals until they have abandoned their hissing and growling. His energy level swings between sleepy and cuddly –to dangling off the ceiling. Or tablecloth, or curtains.

On the writing front, it’s nice to get a voice mail message from your agent that uses the words: “good news”. I’m excited to share that NIGHT FALLS DARKLY will be a featured alternate selection for the Rhapsody and Doubleday Bookclubs! I think in October. I say “I think” because I didn’t ask the date … I just went, “Wheeee!” I’ll share details later.

Okay, RINGY DINGY! That’s my internal alarm going off, saying “NO MORE INTERNET TIME!” For those of you that don’t know, I’m a news junky, and could spend all day going back and forth between CNN, MSNBC and FOXNews. But I’ve got to get this story that’s in my head, onto the computer screen!

Oh! One more thing. I received a box from my publisher the other day, containing some nice bound ARC’s (Advance Reading Copies) for NIGHT FALLS DARKLY. My website will be updated in coming days, and will feature a new contest to win one, deadline August 31st, so check back for that.

  1. Awwww! That is a gorgeous kitty! I did the same thing with our cat, Bubba. Went in to buy dog collars and came out with a cat too. How can youresist a sweetie that reaches through the bars for you and then snuggles into your arms? Tango looks like he approves of your decision. :)

    Congrats on your good news!

  2. Tango is adorable :)

And the news about the bookclub is fantastic!!

    Hope your muse is cooperating.

  3. What a cutie. I can see why you couldn’t resist bringing him home.
And HUGE congrats on the bookclub news! I told you before, but I’ll say it again–I have a great feeling about this series!
Now get that book finished, girl!~
