Kim Lenox, Wildlife Photographer

I have no business blogging, being that I’m so close to my Monday deadline. But … look at the pretty bird. Can you see her?

She’s in a nest, right outside my window, and she’s got two eggs. She’s been sitting on them for about a week, eyeballing my cats, who like to sit on the windowsill and lick their chops at her. But yes, she’s sitting there just like I’ve been sitting in my chair at my computer. I’m convinced those little suckers are going to hatch the moment I turn in my manuscript.

Here’s another type of wildlife.

Do you see its scary, ravenous teeth, ripping into my pages? I’m afraid to refer directly to its true name, as I’m fearful my computer will tell it that I’m talking bad about it. The unnamed device always seems to know when I’m on a deadline, and reacts according to its evil nature. I almost always edit on the screen, but I do like to do a last read through on paper.

I’m glad everyone liked Archer’s sweater yesterday. As I knitted it, with my tiny knitting needles, I hummed the Weezer sweater song. “If you want to destroy my sweater … pull this thread as I walk away (As I walk awayyyy). Watch me unravel, I’ll soon be naked, lyin’ on the floor, lyin’ on the floor! I’ve come undooooone!”

At least that’s how I remember the words.

Thank you Lurvalamode!

Thank you to blogger Kmont at Lurv a la mode for the awesome review of NIGHT FALLS DARKLY.

Check out her other reviews as well! At Kmont’s invitation, I did talk a little about my ideas on world building in the comments.

This is for Katiebabs, who was a little put off by Archer’s extreme abs (or Mr. Hot Bod as my author pal, Colleen Thompson – author of this month’s fabulous romantic suspense TRIPLE EXPOSURE — likes to call him):

(I knitted Archer a sweater!)

Romantic Times - 4 stars!

Hey hey! Still hunkered down in my dark and dusty, decrepit writing manse, finishing this manuscript.

But … I thought I’d share that I was excited to learn last night that NIGHT FALLS DARKLY received a great 4 star review from RomanticTimes Booklovers Magazine.

The review says, in part:

“Clever and chilling. The book’s DEAD LIKE ME concept will intrigue, as will the characters and riveting plot.” - Kathe Robin

Riveting. All writers love to hear that word. It’s like being told we are beautiful.

I had to go look up DEAD LIKE ME, because I didn’t know what that was, and after I did, I felt very complimented by the comparison. It’s a contemporary set comedy-drama television show where the characters are grim reapers. For those of you who might be wondering, yes, we’ve got some humor mixed up with our darkness.

I’ve got to run across town to send out a couple of packages of promo materials, but other than that, I’ll be holed up here. I hope everyone’s enjoying this last bit of summer.

A big thank you to everyone who is stopping by to check out the website and blog. As soon as I turn this manuscript in, we’ll have a lot more talk talk going on here.

Rainy Day writing

It’s raining! It’s raining!

I feel bad about all those who are experiencing the flooding. Here at my house, however, things are perfect for rainy day writing. Other than the fact that I’ve got four kids here … How did that happen, anyway? Because a pal needed somewhere for her kids to go for the day, and she’s always been so supportive of my writing, and watched mine many times. (Thank you, friend!) So yes, I’ll be working around hip-hop dancing girls and gaming guys.

I do admit to praying for the rain to continue so there will be no soccer practice tonight. School starts on Monday, and while we’ve had a great summer, I’m looking forward to a more regular writing schedule.

I am working toward “The End” of Book 2, so yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel! I hope the story is as thrilling for you as it is for me! Once I send off the mss, I’ll jump into regular blogging and contests, and all the fun stuff leading up to the October 7th release of NIGHT FALLS DARKLY.

We’ll talk soon.

I’m still alive!

Hey all!! I am still in my writing dungeon writing (and at present, getting a bath from Tango, which is very distracting). Long story short, I won’t be turning the book in a month early as planned, I’ve got to go with my due date of September 1st. Curses!

But — I have to say I’m loving the story, and that the extra time spent will make it even better! But I don’t want to give anything away yet!

I hope you all are enjoying your summer. Back to writing!

Don’t forget I’ve got a contest going on for a copy of an Advance Reading Copy of NIGHT FALLS DARKLY, that will end on August 31st.
