Buns & Roses!

I had the best weekend in Richardson, Texas, at the Buns & Roses Romance Literacy Tea. What a great way to celebrate the release of NIGHT FALLS DARKLY!

I and all the other Buns & Roses authors started off at Borders off Preston Road in Plano for a booksigning. I was fortunate enough to have a signing table between the beautiful Candace Havens, who is always a hoot (check out her latest, CHARMED & READY), and Laura Griffin, whose romantic suspense books so intrigued me, I picked them up for myself. We all signed piles o’ books, and met a lot of fantastic romance readers! A big thank you to all the staff at Borders — you made us feel like rock stars.

The Tea itself was fantastic, with gorgeous tables and decorations, and Sherrilyn Kenyon as the keynote speaker. She gave a beautiful, very touching and heartfelt speech. We all cried, and felt very proud to be writers and readers.

And no offense to all those other authors’ tables full of readers, but … Kim Lenox had the BEST TABLE EVER! What a great bunch of ladies. I had the best time visiting with them and talking about books, and life and everything.

Thanks also to my new reader friend for giving me Bear (as in a 2008 Buns & Roses Bear). He is already fitting in here with my other animals.
All in all, we had an unforgettable afternoon, the hours flew by too fast, and we raised a lot of money for the Richardson Library’s literacy programs.

Here’s a few pictures from the booksinging that took place after the Tea.

More tomorrow! I’m getting ready for a Big Adventure with NAL Author, Cindy Miles.

Also, don’t forget I’m running a contest. All you have to do is post a comment to any blog post before October the 17th! What’s the prize? I’ll tell you tomorrow, because I’ve already yammered on too long today!

I’m packing up for my Buns N Roses weekend! Promo items! Check. Good book-signing pen! Check. Autographed-by-author stickers! Check. I’ll take pictures, and share them with you all next week.

Next week I’ll also blog a little bit about my creative process — and Jack the Ripper.

Finally — Happy Birthday to my beautiful MOM, whose birthday is tomorrow!

NFD on Shelves!

All,

Night Falls Darkly is now on shelves, and shipping from the online bookstores! Thanks to all of you who have been visiting the site. I hope you love the book!

I didn’t post on my release day. With all the television appearances and newspaper interviews, I just didn’t get a chance.

Snort! Just kidding. I got my hair cut and colored. It’s been six months, so … I was looking pretty ragged and faded. And then … and then … I raced home to wait for our new washer and dryer. I know, very exciting stuff.

I have received more reviews. I loved this one, by Ana at Book Smugglers. When you sit down to work on a book, you have a certain vision. You just hope you can convey that vision onto the page with your words. It’s an exciting feeling for an author, when someone reads your book and — yes — realizes the vision and the story you intended.

One more day … !

We’re one day closer to the release of NIGHT FALLS DARKLY.

This weekend I’ll be traveling with Sharie Kohler and Kerrelyn Sparks to the Buns & Roses literacy event in Richardson Texas! I look forward to meeting any of you who are planning to attend either the booksigning on Saturday (Borders Books, 1601 Preston Road, Plano TX; 2-4 p.m.) or the event itself.

On another note, I was pleased to learn that NIGHT FALLS DARKLY was reviewed by BookPage:

“Kim Lenox’s Night Falls Darkly, an atmospheric tale of romance and the supernatural set in Victorian England, will give readers chills. Heroine Elena Whitney’s past is as mysterious to her as the guardian who came to her rescue three years before. Though she lives in his house, Archer, Lord Black, has never shown his face, and Elena is free to pursue a medical career in London. But when Archer arrives at Black House, Elena’s plans for her life are derailed. Not only is her guardian intent on keeping her safe at home, the sensual man touches Elena in ways she’s never known. Archer’s attraction to his ward only complicates his mission: an Immortal of the Shadow Guards, he’s tasked with the elimination of vilely corrupt mortals, and this time he’s after the Ripper. Real-life famous faces of the era walk across the pages as Archer and Elena fight their love and fight to stop a murdering madman. When the story ends, there are more questions, sure to be answered in further gripping stories of the Shadow Guard.”

Oh yeah! A new contest!

I had a great day yesterday! I had a gal pal lunch with Berkley author, Kim Frost, and enjoyed a really yummy bellini martini!

And I think I was supposed to announce a new contest on Monday. It’s THURSDAY! Ooops! I apologize! Obviously Kim Lenox’s publicist (whose initials are K. L.) is falling down on the job.

So here we go! We’re going to have a very easy contest. Do you have to read anything before entering? No! (Well, only this post!) Do you have to answer any quiz questions? No! Not unless you feel like it. So what do you have to do to enter? Just post a comment to any of my blog posts between now and Friday, October 17th and you’ll be entered to win. Yes, you can just type in “hooya!” or “snort!” That works.

And what marvelous prizes are you going to win? I’m still working on that, but let me assure you, it will be GOOD!

A word about my newsletter — I’m not an e-mail harvester. Only those people who sign up for my newsletter on my home page (see the Newsletter Signup form?) will receive it. So post away!

Everyone have a fantastic day!
