Smart computer techies of the world: Use your talents for the purposes of GOOD, not EVIL!
Just before Christmas, my computer was stricken with a very nasty trojan virus. This, despite my having constant updates from McAfee, etc., so I’m not sure how it happened. I’m pretty sure I picked it up while looking for some holiday games/activities for my son’s class party. I’ve never had a virus before, and yuck! It was like someone had given my computer a venereal disease.
The tech guy from my office (I work part time from home for an engineering firm) helped me get it off my computer — or so we thought. But over the past couple of days I started having similar problems, and the evil sucker blocked me from accessing any of the McAfee websites. See? EVIIIIL.
So I found the McAfee phone number via my Blackberry browser (and, McAfee … could you make that any more of a scavenger hunt?) and paid $97 for a technician to remotely access my computer and clean it up.
What kind of person takes enjoyment in creating and inflicting that torment on other people?
Anyhow … once the computer was cleaned up, I pulled up my WriteWayPro program where I’ve been compiling my synopsis/character profiles/scene ideas and I’d lost more than half. GAR! So, yes, I will be working today to try and reconstruct everything, as my proposal is due on Monday.
Monday, Monday … Lord Lenox returns to work, and the kids go back to school! I’ve enjoyed the holidays, but it will be nice to have a quiet house in which to work and write and create. I’ll enjoy it as long as I can — this year’s economic complications mean that at some point I’ll likely be returning to work full time. Reality!
As for now — I’m going to go immerse in a cup of green tea, and some non-reality. I hope all of you have a fantastic Saturday.

What a string of bad luck! It just makes you sick to loose all that, doesn’t it. Somehow, telling yourself what you’ll replace all that work with will end up being better is little consolation.
Happy New Year, BTW
